Rotisserie Chicken
« on: March 28, 2014, 07:03:33 AM »
I was really disappointed today and it goes to show that we learn new things everyday on our journey of fts when I picked up a rotisserie chicken from Shoprite to make a chicken salad for dinner . It had been a busy day and I needed something quick . While I was eating it I thought this taste sweet ? Trying to convince myself that it was my dressing I decided to put on it I continued on with my evening . I decided to go on the internet and look up rotisserie chickens and low carb. I was saddened to see people commenting about "dextrose" being used in them . So I made Dan go outside in the trash to check the container and sure enough there was dextrose listed as the 5th ingredient . I would be lying if I said I wasn't upset I was pissed ! lol
I guess more so bc earlier this week I had gotten an Irish cream coffee at dunkin donuts (had been getting them the past week ) and noticed this last time the women pumping something in my coffee cup . I politely asked her what that was and she said oh it's the Irish cream flavor !!!!!😡😡😡😡😡 I was so mad , disappointed , raged and upset. I hate that they can do this and if I didn't go in to get the coffee I would have continued through the drive through and never had known .
Ok I will get off my soap box just wanted to share my lessons learned 😋

I get so annoyed too Steph.  It seems unless you make it yourself you don't really know what goes into anything.

As a matter of interest what did you do with the coffee?

As frustrating as it is for us imagine how bad it is for type 1 diabetics that have to take insulin without the correct info.I am relentless about following up with companies about their labels. :)

Hi, Steph! :)

Remember, if we don't make any mistakes, we're not living!
We learn from mistakes. A huge part of FTS is learning.
Consider these experiences just lessons learned.

Imagine if you did not know about FTS and the damage carbs cause.
You'd continue living on hurting yourself and not even know it.

So be happy and know you've adeptly arrested some "carb creep" in you life.
And that's a great thing!!! :) :) :)

Thank you Tony ! It's true we must learn as we go, but when you think you are matching to the best and these companies get easy with undisclosed info it's so unfair . But we have had this convo 10,000 times . Lol

Hi, Steph! :)

Like my dad used to tell me; "Life's not fair. If you want "fair", go to the fairgrounds.".

Since there are unscrupulous companies (in all industries) out there, we must remain vigilant.
Sometimes, they're very clever and trick us.
But once tricked, we learn (at least we should). ;)

Thanks!... And, yes he was, Umpa! :)

My parents did a great job preparing me for a life that has been very harsh, at times.

They also believed in spanking (when warranted) to learn respect for others.
From that, it was an easy leap to learning to love my fellow man.

If they just coddled me in my youth, I might not even be alive today.
