when you refer in the orig book that onios are 5 net carbs per 1/2 c....is that cooked or raw?
Can someone explain why some of us repel so long when the answer is right in front of us? Oh well, at least we finally get it!

I have wished that it was cooked because a 1/2 cup of any vegie is not much after you cook it ,but I believe it is raw ? I hope I am wrong .

Sorry Jo!  :( But beebs is correct!

Cooking many veggies removes water within their tissues, softening them, and they collapse within their "skins".
There are some exceptions like potatoes, carrots, jicama, etc..

Take a bunch of spinach, cook it, then see what you have left... Pretty disappointing!  :(

At least with spinach, it's so low in net carbs, you can eat a larger serving without much worry.
One average bunch you'd find in the produce section of the market (12 oz.) has only about 4g net carbs.

I feel your pain Jo!  :( :( :(

In my former life, I would pile on HUGE mounds of sautéed onions on my burgers.

Now, I still use some onion. But replaced most of it with sautéed white mushrooms.
Along with a slice of melted cheddar, I think it tastes much better!  :) :) :)
I REALLY love portabella mushrooms. But they are higher in carbs and much more pricey.

DAMN!!!...  >:( >:( >:( I believe I'm making myself "think" I'm hungry!
I'll drink a tall glass of cold water and wait 15 minutes.

If I still feel hungry, it's off to the kitchen for some grub.
If not, I will have avoided unnecessary eating.
This trick really works for me!

Broccoli and cauli dont shrink much and you dont have to just eat half a cup. You can spend the carbs on more. Whatever you want to spend your 20 carbs on you can. Although I would suggest not spending them on one thing you could get pretty hungry that way.

Hey Sherri! Sorry I have not been on line or should I say to this site for a while. HOWEVER!!!~! I'm still following the plan and recommending it to everyone that will listen. I've lost 20 lbs and eliminated all of my day time insulin and have started decreasing my nightime insulin recently. I'm feeling pretty good!!!! Down 2 sizes!! How are you guys? Down south I guess  :'(. I wish you would let me know when you get back at the end of the summer or fall. Would love to see you both!
