I was thinking of using half butter extract, half vanilla. Would that work or should I just use all vanilla if I don't have the emulsion?

Oh my goodness. I can see these being addictive which means I have to try them! Haha!😊

General Discussion / Frustration with Medical Staff
« on: September 24, 2015, 02:59:04 PM »
Hello! Long time no post! I have been back at my way of eating for a few months now and keeping on. I've just been very busy with work and my husband buying and taking over his boss' business. Whew. Anyhoo...

I went to the dr today (I saw the Nurse Practitioner) about a couple of minor nagging things and she mentioned she's noticed I've lost some weight since last visit. I said thanks I've been running 3-5 miles a day 5 days a week and looking after my diet. Then she mentioned shed lost a lot of weight but had put back 20 lbs recently. She said she's a carb addict. I said well I've given up refined carbs. She immediately went kamikaze on my and said "don't cut them out completely! You need at least 30% of you diet to be carbs or your brain doesn't function." Then she repeated herself a couple more times.  I didn't feel like arguing over ketones and the brain utilizing ketones more efficiently then sugar with her because I know she is Scottish like me and VERY stubborn. I just okay. Thank you. I'm frustrated. Why can't people read up and be supportive of something that is working and helping me and my brain is working better then ever thank you! Ugh. 😕😡 I wish I had an open minded medical professional anywhere near me. The only ones near me are 85 miles north. Sigh. I would love to share how great I feel with people around me but right now I get so much negativity from people when I mention it. I'm going to stick with the "I've cut out junk food, refined sugar, and eat a tone of veggies now" schpeal. I don't get people lecturing me. Grrr! Do some research on some of the latest studies! I'm even what I would consider a keto-adapted runner and I still can't explain how I can run for 10-12 miles with no Gatorade or energy gels and feel fantastic!

I'm just gonna shake my head at this one. Can any of you guys commiserate on this topic?

Does this make one tortilla? What's the carb count on this?

It's true Tony. Yesterday I was able to jog and I felt like some of my old energy was coming back. I'm being more patient and gentle to myself this time around. No heart repercussions yesterday either which is awesome! I also figure two weeks ago l had just barely been on my new meds for a few days. Now it's been nearly a month so perhaps it's really finally helping. I'm walking more too. I got an app on my phone that works as a pedometer and tracks my activity all day and my sleep at night to see how I'm sleeping (I have trouble sleeping a lot). It's very useful information for me and gives me goals to short for and I've incorporated some other goals for it to track too like water intake and exercise (sit-ups, push-ups, etc.) I'm feeling good but I'm still pretty hyper overall lol. That's just how I am though I think! :-)

Is the purified water you're discussing considered "softened water"? I'm just wondering, I have a full house water softener...so I'm just concerned...

Umpa, thank you! Yes I definitely do know what to do. I love the perfect simplicity of it for sure! :-) Now to deal with some detox. Fun times! ;-)

Tony, thank you so much for the kind, welcoming words. You are so right about not condemning. I'm trying to use my falling as a learning experience and just get right back to business! I haven't been really really far off but I've definitely let too many carbs back into my daily intake. I just remember though how much better I feel when I eat right! My mind is clearer my energy is more stable and I don't get that need to nap so much around 3 o'clock everyday. I'm so excited to get back to cooking. I've been eyeing all my favorite recipes and a few new ones I want to try! Yay!!!! Love it!

Thank you, Umpa. She was a strong remarkable lady. She was 91 when she passed and had dealt with Alzheimer's since 2003. It's hard to watch a dear loved one forget who you are, I don't want that to happen to me. :-(

True and a much more stress free way to look at things too!

I've spent so much time on the ground looking up the wagon lately that I'm surprised I haven't gained a bunch of weight. At least at some point in my twisted brain I think I thought at least if I'm going to fall off I should watch my portions of the carbage....haha. Perhaps that's helped mitigate some of my troubles but sometimes all that does is push me further off the wagon, into a ditch per say, where I can justify just about anything. Ugh. I don't know about you guys but for me that ditch is pretty deep. However, I'm working my way out of it. I know I need to forgive myself and some of my weakness to certain foods and such but I am trying to really get back on that wagon and stay there. Falling hurts! I also know deep down, my life really depends on it. So here I am!
