How long do you guys roast your pumpkin seeds? The last batch I made, I thought I was eating sunflower seeds with the shells. Do they ever get to where it doesn't taste like a mouthful of wood?

Tony,

My smoked oysters have 7 carbs in a can. Shouldn't add up to too much in a serving! I think I'll try this out for the family Christmas this Sunday.

Hey, another thing I just thought of, if you add a can or two of smoked oysters to this you'd get some great oyster dressing! I used to do that with stove top stuffing, and it was close to gramma's oyster stuffing.

This is a great idea for stuffing and dressing! I've been thinking about low carb gravy, but wondering what to put it on. This will be excellent! Thanks Romarc!

Breakfast Recipes / jimmy dean sausage casserole
« on: December 16, 2012, 10:13:08 PM »
I made a sausage casserole yesterday morning that turned out pretty good. I was making regular breakfast casserole for my deer hunting group, and I made this one for me.

Brown and crumble a pound of breakfast sausage
Make 4 one minute muffins.
In a bowl, mix 4 eggs, 1/2 cup cream, 1 cup water, and 1/8 tsp black pepper.
Tear up muffins and stir in mixture until coated.
stir in breakfast sausage and 3/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
pour into a greased 7x11 baking dish, sprinkle 1/2 cup shredded cheddar on top.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean.

It kinda tastes like a sausage egg and cheese pancake sandwich. I made it up the night before and threw it in the fridge and baked it for 50 minutes the next morning. It's really easy and good! I'll be eating leftovers for breakfast all week!

Hummingbird,

Try drinking a cup of full sodium broth in the morning and afternoon. It'll shape you right up. You don't get near the sodium you're used to eating low carb, because you're not eating the processed foods you used to. It works in minutes.

Hi Jo,

Welcome.

Like Tony said, this way of eating is not really work. You learn what you can and can't eat, and learn how many excellent things there are that you can eat. It's really fun to try out new recipes and eat great food and lose weight. The best part is that you don't have to be hungry all the time like a low cal diet. That's why this isn't a diet, it's a whole new way of eating. A way that let's you be satisfied and happy instead of hungry and waiting for the moment you hit your goal to start eating wrong again.

You're gonna love this

Way to go, and I know what you mean. I have lost 60 pounds, and mostly feel 20 years younger, but my head is still fat. I keep visualizing myself as last year instead of 20 years ago. Wish my back was 20 younger, but I still like it

That is really great that you got to have that cool first with your grandson.
But honestly, I'd pay good money for them to keep the green beans for the goats! I can't stand them! Ate about a ton too many I guess.

Isn't splenda sucralose, like Zero? A soda shouldn't have any carbs from it. It's just in the powdered form that you need to count a carb on from the carrier, right?

If you drink full sodium broth that will go away. Like beef bouillon cubes in a cup of hot water. When you aren't eating processed foods, you don't get enough sodium and it gives you those flu symptoms. You'll feel better in minutes.

Hi Mumba, and welcome!

The label you're looking at would be 10 net carbs. If it was 10 total carbs, 4 grams fiber and 3 grams sugar alcohols, it would be 3 net grams. Total minus fiber minus sugar alcohols gives you net carbs.

Like Tony said, we live in the country and don't get any kids trick or treating. I don't mind kids eating candy, it's part of civilized life I guess. I didn't have any eating problems until I was in  my 40's, and I enjoyed all the stuff I ate before that. I don't miss or crave any of that now, but I still remember liking it before. Let kids be kids.
