General Discussion / Hi Guys! Just An Update!
« on: July 31, 2013, 12:31:06 PM »
Hi guys! What's up? Well, just wanted to fill y'all in! Stayin the course! Anddd I have gone from a size 16 down to a size 10! OMG! Started off at a size 22! Up north! It's funny cause the mother n law seems shocked everytime I tell her! Like she can't figure out how I'm loosing the weight?! Really? I've told her a thousand times! And Umpa, you were so right!! (Not that I didn't believe you ;D)But you just cannot imagine how much bread she throws away everytime, because it goes bad, because nobody, in our family eats it!!
But, why can't I physically see how much I'm loosing? I mean obviously I am, cause the pants sizes are dropping and my sister n law says she can tell I'm loosing it, but I just can't physically see! I so thought I would never be in a size 10 again! It's funny cause she was telling her mother over the phone that I was in a size 10 pants, & like I said they can't believe it, and the mil was like, I don't know mama, but she's wearing them now! LoL...Thanks guys!! ;D ;D

Oh Umpa! If you only knew the half of it   :'( I wish she would put out appitizers!
Thats why it used to be sooo hard for me because I used to be a sweet junkie!
She buys chocolate glazed donuts, sugar glazed donuts, Antoine of bread you
can think of. Now I look at those kinds of foods as disgusting, & she asks me
All the time are you sure you dont want any? Yep! Totally sure!
Is it just me or did we spend a whole lot of time "eating" junk
Food?! Holy crap! I never ever realized how much of my time was spent
Just eating. All because of one little ingredient,  "sugar!"

It used to be hard for me as far as the cravings went, because in the back breakfast room, on the table is nothing but breads cakes and pies, literally. It used to win me over with the cakes and pies, but, thankfully, I'm to the point to where I'm tired of the same 'ole same 'ole. Every week she buys this stuff, not my family, but everybody that comes over eats them, sis n law etc...I just sit back and watch. Something about once you make it past that first barrier, it's not so hard anymore. Can't believe how hooked I was on all that sugar!  ;D

Thanks Umpa! You are too funny! @ Morgan and Too Sweet, I wouldn't hold my breath on that one! I'm just out to show her, I didn't need all the fancy lapban surgeries, loose my weight.

Thanks guys! ;D It's weird how it starts to drop off all of a sudden isn't it?! And I have to tell ya, I am much more cautious of what I eat, now that I have started dropping! I definately do not want to go back up again! Everytime I tell the mother n law, I've lost more weight, all she does is go oh, & starts watching her tv. again. That's okay, I'm not doing it for her anyway! Thanks guys! Happy Monday? If it's possible!

General Discussion / The Scale is Alive!
« on: July 07, 2013, 11:17:12 AM »
Hey guys! I guess eating the right way really does pay off! I've been stagnite at 200 lbs. (of my own free will)& I really haven't been checking the scale, just because I knew what I was going to see! Same 'ole, same 'ole! So last week, I weighed in at 200lbs. and this week I've already started dropping! First 198, now 197! Slowly but surely I guess! So you know, I'm "keepin The Faith!"

Gonna have to agree with Doug!  ;D In every since, it's totally up to us! Heck, I live with a constant, nagging food pusher, who literally stands and watches us make our plates! And then questions us, when we don't put any carbs on it! (I don't look at mashed potatoes or mac and cheese anymore, to me they're just a plate of carbs) I now, just tell her I'm good. (Basicly don't worry about me, I can take care of myself!)
Living with a food pusher has been a total growing process. I used to "whine and cry" a lot! My husband and I couldn't figure out how to make the mil change her ways! But instead, it was us who needed to change our ways!( Like Umpa once said, if we don't eat it, and it goes to waste, she'll realize how much money she's wasteing and will stop.....not yet, but not my money!)
In a nutshell, I'm just tired of going along to get along, you know? I'm tired of pleasing everybody but myself. Besides, you can't find victory without a "little" battle?!  ;D

;D Thanks Umpa! You know how to brighten my day!  ;D That seems to be my life in a nutshell. Thats okay, At work, we have a sign up at the dispatch window; "No Whiners allowed!" I'm too old to be a whiner and to head strong to be a quitter!

Thanks TooSweet! It's been a longggg way to get where I am, and a lot of battles I've had to fight. But I have a feeling the battles are not over yet! That's okay! I'm ready for each and every one of them! Since I know what's important to me, and I know now how to say no!  ;D

Hey yall!  ;D Well, so far I've gone from 200 to 198. (Hard to believe I started out at 240!)May not seem much, but every little bit helps. And I'm happy with it. And yes, I "willingly" (& for 10 years, I have yet to figure out why!) drive a school bus. I live to ride! haha....I enjoy the insanity of not being able to control the elementary kids. The fact that you can tell them to sit down 20 times a day, and it does no good, yes there's something wrong with me!
I just want to prove to the mil that you do not need lapban, or any other medical procedure to loose weight! All you need is will power and a bunch of good friends! (Incase you're wondering! That would be y'all!)
Since husband is really never home  :-X with the two jobs, I just eat when I get hungry. It seems easier to eat by myself? Is that weird? If I'm not hungry, I don't eat. I don't cook it, so, I don't have to worry about wasteing any of it! I have been really good about eating just the meat that she cooks! And I've been fine! It's funny though how the stomach does shrink after a while. And you're not nearly as hungry as you once used to be!

@umpa, you're way to kind!  ;D and I'm not about to let one little old lady stand in my way!

@Morgan: Not even a single tiny bit!  ;D But that's okay. I've decided (along with y'alls help!)that I'm not going to let her or anyone else control how I eat. Like Doug said, just because she makes it, doesn't mean I have to eat it! Every time she cooks, for some reason, when I walk into the kitchen, those words ring in my head!  ;D I usually just eat the meat, and if I'm still hungry later, I go to our fridge.
And y'all are no fun! Carrots are my favorite! But I was kinda starting to feel like a rabbit! I love cucumbers, etc...So I will trade them in! Even just the little short while, I've been on FtS for a second go around, I have seen two or three pounds off! So that makes it even better for motivation. Yes, she still cooks the same way, and yes, she still brings sweets in the house. And no, I do not eat them. Once I broke the habit, it's not so hard to stay the course, all they do is sit there and go bad! But she continues to buy them week after week. My husband and I think she does it on purpose, because she got that lapban to loose all of her weight, even though she still eats the sweets and throws them back up! And let me tell you, that is not a site you want to see while you are eating dinner! (just sayin!) Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!
Love y'all!!

Hi guys! I don't know about y'all, but there is something to saying "NO" to the pushers! ;D Omg! Such a wonderful feeling! As you guys know, we are currently staying with the mother n law, and it has been such an uphill battle when it comes to food!(among other battles, but I shall not bother you with that!:-) I think it had to do with getting a pretty big, mini fridge in our room, to finally get the will power to say no to the mil! She told me today that she had some stuff made, and I just said oh, okay, and walked right out, and opened the fridge in our room, and got out baby carrots, and celery sticks that I made up yesterday. It's weird, because I feel good after telling her no to the foods I used to love eating. I am trying really hard this time, and I promise I am not going to break. I don't know where the will power came from! Just hit me all of a sudden. I'm tired of being a people pleaser. I want to please myself, my kids and my husband by living a long life. Not by killing myself slowly by what someone else cooks! ;D

General Discussion / Re: couch potato syndrom. no more!

Thanks y'all! It's true, I have had a bit of bad luck past couple of years, but you know? The 'ole saying goes; "you can either let the situation define you, or you can define the situation!"(or well, something like that!)But anyway, I just got to the point where I was tired of feeling sorry for myself and the situation we're in, as far as living with the mil. I know it won't last forever, and it seems hard to pull ones self out of the pity syndrome once you go down that path. Seems like it takes forever to climb out of the rabbit hole, so to speak! But, I am doing better! We have purchaced ;D our own, sort of mini fridge that we keep in our room ;D and we keep all the good stuff in there! AkA; lettuce for wraps, lunch meats etc...So, go ahead and let the mil cook till her hearts content! We have figured out a solution to better ourselves, and it's working ;D
@Umpa, hubby is doing good! He's working two jobs now. Second one is only on his days off Thurs. and Friday. Tow truck guy/mechanic during the week! So he stays pretty busy! But we are "Keeping the Faith and Stayin the Course!" It's been a hard hurdle moving in with the mil, but we have finally figured out how to "survive" with our eating habits and "her" cooking! I'm finally off the 200lb. mark! And into a size 12 jeans again. So alls good around here.
