General Discussion / My two favorite recipies, so far!!
« on: September 01, 2010, 08:36:41 PM »
I continually come back to these faves.. The FTS chili with black soy beans and the Chicken Teriyaki these are staple meals in my home... love them.
I've been away from the board for a few days.... busy getting things perfect for more foster kids to come in.
I have stayed on the FTS plan 100% as far as food is concerned.  My biggest problem is  portion control and having a zero carb hot dog as a snack (several times a day).  I'm a grazer... never had regular meal times because of my ex-career. Now that I am retired from it I can't get into a reg. schedule of eating. Needless to say, I am not losing very fast... but I am losing.

Just finished a wonderful version of your pizza, Gary... I laid thin strips of cheese in the pan (too lazy to shred it) and layered on thin strips of Parmesan.  Fried it on both sides, put it on paper towels to blot off excess oil then used the pizza cutter to make triangles... dipped them in 2 tablespoons of salsa.  1 carb is all and very satisfying!

I buy a bag of 'Raw' Almonds from Trader Joes. It's just plain almonds... not roasted, salted, dipped in chocolate, etc.,

I've tried the cheese as a taco crust.  turned out pretty good.  Non stick pan is definitly the way to go, with the oil...If anyone needs help while eating a lot of cheese try having about 11 raw almonds ( 1/2 oz) near bedtime.  It is great for contipation, tastes good and keeps you from feeling hungry when you go to bed.

General Discussion / Re: Gary why did you put the pics on of the fries ?

This cutter is off Amazon so it's available to everyone no matter where you live.  It has several size options for the fries and not very expensive.

For peeling jicama, I use a sharp knife and cut it into 1/2 inch slices... then take a paring knife and just trim off the peel.  It's much easier than trying to peel it whole.

I like the idea of using cocktail wieners for the extremities.  Makes it more manageable for everyone, not just kids.  After all... there is portion control to consider.
Beebs, I think you need to broaden your horizons!!

Just got back from my annual physical and all my blood test results were normal... no more high chloresterol!  Also, my B6 level was on the high side of normal where it had been on the very low side before.  When I got home I looked it up online and found this,

"According to the Harvard School of Public Health, the body requires between 1.3 and 1.7 milligrams of vitamin B6 per day.  Intake should be kept below 100 milligrams per day to avoid adverse side effects. Meats: Virtually all meats are great foods high in vitamin B6.  Poultry products like turkey and chicken contain about half a milligram of vitamin B6 per three ...

Vitamin B6 may have an anti-cancer role
Mon Jun 21, 2010 12:00 AM GMT

Author: Rachelle de Bretagne

Although news stories break on an ongoing basis regarding cancer prevention, the latest break by the American Medical Association after research on more than 400,000 people, showed that those who had a higher percentage of vitamin B6 were less likely to contract cancer. This is quite an outstanding result, since effectively, what this means is that an adjustment of diet can help in the fight against this deadly disease ...

Eating more meat, which I didn't do before, may help prevent cancer... one more great 'side effect' of the FTS plan!!
