General Discussion / Re: The Jeans Test
« on: July 03, 2012, 11:27:48 PM »
I love this...I have 2 pair of jeans that I LOVE!  They have been banished to the top rack in my closet...but no more.  Those suckers are coming out and staying on my dresser from now on!   Thanks for the challenge and the step OFF the scale...because I feel amazing in my size 14 worn out jeans...and I think hubby likes them too. :P

So I will take the jeans test every Saturday morning until I can button them without lying on my bed.
Oh, it's on!

General Discussion / Re: Dr Oz is an idiot....pure and simple
« on: June 30, 2012, 10:50:47 PM »
I too like Dr. Oz...maybe because of the way he talks and makes you feel like he is on the same level as you...and maybe it's because he is a "medical Dr."   Not too bad on the eyes either.  :P

But 275g carbs?  I know that is insane.  He knows that is insane!  Come on!  There is NO WAY Dr. Oz eats that many carbs.... Look at him.. NO WAY

I am a a true example of how Carbs make you FAT.  After reading Doug's book and dropping 47lbs in less than 5 months, I know that carbs are killing us...that is why when you walk through the mall, or are at a restaurant, and you look around...the majority of people are overweight in this country.

I did WW, NS, and every diet out there (including the imfamous water/apple diet my daughter introduced to me)  ::)  The only thing that worked for me was controlling my sugar.   Which I did for a long time with successful results.

But remember, sugar is addictive and as any addict...I went back to the drug when I felt I could "handle it."  I quickly learned that sugar had a hold on me AGAIN!  It didn't take long for me put those pounds back on.

However, the thought of even trying to eat 275g carbs per day is insane.  He should be ashamed of himself...there is no way he is eating that many carbs.

Just my opinion...
Theresa (looking forward to sugar detox again...honestly)

Hi folks!

Well, I'm back in the saddle again!!! (Litterally...my saddle needs help)!

I'm embarrased to say I fell far off the wagon, (dam bagels)... but I am giving it another try.

Ok, so here we go!  I need to get back to the old picture of me up there in the corner!

I've missed you guys!

General Discussion / Re: Update on my Savannah
« on: August 28, 2011, 10:19:34 PM »
Alex,
So happy to hear Savannah is feeling better.
When my son was 4 he shoved a bead up his nose.  They had to use the alligator grabby-things to get it out in the hospital emergency room cuz I took  him there in a panic...looking back, there was nothing to panic about...they pulled it out and we all laughed because it was one of those beads with letters stamped on them (for making bracelets)...and it had a "J" on it...his name is Jonathan!  Well, we were all sure he knew his alphabet!
He is now 13, and has no memory of it.

Funny little buggers!

Alex,
Having little ones is so hard.  Believe me, I had four under 6 at one time.  ::)They stick things where they don't belong, and they are such little troopers that ear infections, flu and fevers don't slow them down!
You are a great mom!  I know that hole you are talking about.   :P
Hopefully tomorrow morning when you all wake up, the fever will be gone and your little one will throw her arms around you and say "I love you, Mom"  And all will be right in the world.

Hang in there....these times don't last very long! ;)

I did too, Tony.  For a long time, too.  But I never went back. I am very proud of myself being able to kick that habit.   I don't think about it hardly at all anymore, even when others are smoking.   Thinking about smoking was good enough for me...and remembering  what I liked about it.

It is funny, the habit is so gross...but I liked it.  Weird.

I also like that I didn't turn into one of those crazy fanatic ex-smokers.  I get the habit and understand why it is so hard to quit.  I'm just glad it doesn't plague me anymore!

How did gettin' married by Elvis turn into a car discussion?.....
   ;D

I should have added a smiley face after ;D
I just love how our disussions can go from one thing to the other!  I did  not mean to hurt anyone's feelings...sorry if you thought I did.

Please don't lurk...everyone here is wonderful and very supportive.
I find that the written word doesn't have the emotion attached and can be misconstrued or misunderstood.  My apologies if you were offended.

But, Umpa...in 5 years I am still takin' Paul to Vegas to get married by Elvis with Michael Jackson music...(and my son is practicing the moonwalk!)   ;)  (imagine...me fitting back into my wedding dress by then...20lbs to go!)

Tony,
Congrats on being smoke free....
I never thought I would be smoke free... I just loved them...
I don't know how it happened, but I just stopped.  I have been smoke free for 15 years!
I love that my body doesn't crave it anymore....
I am still working on the sugar, though...    ::)
