These sound really yummy. I like my tuna with just a "hint" of rosemary so I might try that with your recipe.

I tried the tuna patties for lunch today.  They were very good.  I put a few shakes of Frank's Hot Sauce (0 net carbs) on top to eat them.  It just gave them a little extra zip.

How Many does this make Jo??..Want to know serving size??
Title: Re: Tuna Patties
Post by: joagain on October 20, 2010, 06:07:31 PM
Hey Doreen I think 2 cans makes like 9-10 depending how big you make them . Cause when you put them in the pan you kinda flatten them out yu dont want them thick . Sometimes I just use 1 can of tuna & 1 egg  plus the cheese of course if it is just for you you could do that .

Anyone try these with lump crab meat??

Hi again Beth! :)

This works with canned tuna, salmon, clams, crab, and lobster.

Just be sure whichever you chose, to drain well BEFORE mixing in other ingredients.
Otherwise, you may end up with a mushy mess. :-\

It depends on your ingredients if they are 0 carbs.  Eggs have carbs (.6 for large or 1 for x-large) unless you buy the Omega 3 eggs.  Also check your parmesan cheese some containers say they have carbs and some don't.  It is best to learn how to do your own carb count for every recipe because not everyone uses the same brand name of ingredients and they are all different.

Any "old" recipe that I have that calls for Cream of Mushroom Soup, I substitute Classico Mushroom Alfredo Sauce, 1 net carb per 1/4 cup.  It works great.

I imagine Doug's Alfredo sauce recipe heated with fresh diced mushrooms would do pretty well too!

Yeppers.I would cook the mushrooms first in a frying pan or microwave like you do before you put them on pizza. They release alot of liquid. ;)

Good idea, SMom, but there again, I don't know about the condensed-ness. "Condensed" spelled with one 'c' and one 's'.  :D I'll try the alfredo sauce and some mushrooms today and if it doesn't work, I'll pass it on to Ask Umpa. Just for fun. :D :D

Hi Marty! :)

If you want more "condensed-ness" using Doug's Alfredo sauce recipe, just add more grated Parmesan cheese.
Doing that, you can make the sauce as thick as you like.

I've never found a sauce that was too cheesy! ;D

dowensrdu,it is really to your taste I think it was 1/4-1/2 cup of shredded cheese then I just shook the parm cheese till I got a good little bit I would say 1/8 of cup maybe . They are tasty  ;D

I actually do my tuna patties using steamed mashed cauliflower instead of mashed potato
(large tin drained tuna, steamed cauli, 1 egg, onion, parsley, s&p and rolled in golden flax - then fried - if the mix seems a bit soggy add some flax to bind).  Carbwise it comes out very low.
