Still here
« on: September 22, 2012, 10:03:15 PM »
Hi, everyone! I am still here, but since school started back about 6 weeks ago, I have been swamped.  I had to slow down a little bit this week when I ended up at the emergency room..... Not sure what exactly happened. Had trouble thinking, and then the right side of my body went weak, tingly, and numb. Speech was strange and I couldn't stay awake. I kept feeling like my throat was swelling shut, too.  I am fine now, but fighting my first cold since March of 2010 when I quit sugar.   I forgot what it feels like to be sick.

Hi owensmath! :)

Glad to hear from you again. :) :) :)

Stress is a killer!

My mom had similar symptoms when she had a stroke.
I pray that you were not going through that.

When faced with more responsibilities than time allows, just do your best without overdoing it.
Everyday, MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF to unwind and just be relaxed and at peace.
And don't forget, tomorrow's another day! ;)

I hope you get over your cold soon! :)

Tony

They think possibly electrolytes were too low and/or dehydration.  Not really sure.

Hi Donna, sorry to hear that you had to go through this and that your sick :( My very good friend who lives in your area went through a similar episode last year. The "local" doctors diagnosed his event as a stroke and put him on a chemical cocktail that really had bad side effects. He couldn't think clearly, memory was gone, speech was broken, energy was low. After some doing I finally convinced him to go to Mission in Asheville for a second opinion. The team of doctors there discovered he was completely misdiagnosed and didn't have a stroke at all! They took him off all the meds and replaced the cocktail with one little pill. Today my pal is healthy, happy and safe. Don't mess around with this Donna go to Mission for a check up. Mission is one of the top hospitals in the country and you need to discover why this happened, I don't buy the low electrolyte theory. When was the last time you had an ultrasound on your carotid arteries? The symptoms you described fit some on the list- http://www.texheartsurgeons.com/CarotidDisease.htm   Please keep us updated and PLEASE don't ignore this simply because it's gone away  :-\ :-\

The CT scan results stated "minimal calcification of the intracranial carotid siphon(s?)"

They didn't think it was a problem.

Second opinion time.

I'm a big fan of major medical centers.  Most have online appointment requests.  It's amazing to me how easy it is to get appointments with top doctors all over the country.  You just need to ask.

from a nurses standpoint this does not make sense. 2nd opinion would definetly be warranted. your health is not something to mess around with . without it we having nothing .
